Our Experience | Residential

Westmoreland Road

This design and build project comprised a block of 9 apartments over 5 upper floors and a basement service area for private rental. The apartments are a mixture of one and two bedrooms with a 3 bedroom top floor penthouse and all upper apartments are provided with ample balcony space to provide an excellent amenity area.  A lift serves all floors and is finished in contemporary stainless steel.

The new building filled the site area and presented a number of logistical and procurement problems that needed to be solved to ensure that the construction could be carried out efficiently.  These problems were partially solved by close cooperation with the local authority to enable works and deliveries to be completed.

The basement is formed with a contiguous piled enclosure with a waterproof concrete structural enclosure suporting the upper floor.  Further structural support is provided by isolated piles and pile caps, columns and reinforced insitu concrete basement slab. The structure is formed from reinforced insitu concrete ground floor with supporting columns and walls and a transfer slab at 1st floor level above this level the structure is pre-stressed widespan floor planks with traditional blockwork wall internal support.  The external wall enclosure is traditional block and face brick cavity walling.
